Father-son Rory McIlroy and Gerry Mcllroy win Seminole Pro-Member title

Rory McIlroy warmed up for the Arnold Palmer Invitational in style this week, winning the prestigious Seminole Pro-Member event alongside his father, Gerry McIlroy, on Monday. The Seminole Pro-Member pairs world-class professionals with amateurs for 18 holes at one of Florida’s finest golf courses. Rory and Gerry claimed the gross title with an impressive score of 63. The event is hosted at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida. The field consists of club members and professional golfers, and the Seminole Pro-Member is ranked among the top private golf events in the world.

Rory McIlroy secures Seminole Pro-Member win alongside father Gerry McIlroy

Apart from Rory McIlroy, players such as Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, and Nelly Korda were also in action at the Seminole Pro-Member event.

For McIlroy, it served as the perfect warm-up, and the victory sends a strong message that his game is in excellent shape ahead of an important stretch on the PGA Tour. The father-son duo finished two strokes ahead of Fowler’s team in second place and three clear of Morikawa’s team, which finished tied for third.

However, Morikawa and his partner, David Novak, responded by defeating the McIlroys in a scorecard playoff in another category.

Back in 2019, McIlroy and his father tied for the win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship but lost on countback. The pair also fired a remarkable 59 at the tournament in 2022.

Golf legend Tiger Woods played in the Seminole Pro-Member 12 months ago but missed out this year as he continues to recover from back surgery.

McIlroy will now look to carry his rich vein of form into the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which begins this week. He recently finished tied for second at the Genesis Invitational and tied for 14th at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The Northern Irishman last won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2018, and his form appears to be peaking at the right time, especially with the Masters just around the corner next month.
