Want to study in Ireland? Rs 75 lakh scholarship announced for Indian students

Indian students looking to pursue postgraduate studies overseas have a fresh opportunity to ease the financial burden. The National College of Ireland (NCI) has introduced scholarships worth Rs 75 lakh exclusively for Indian students, offering substantial support to those planning to continue their higher education in Ireland.

The scholarship programme has been launched as part of NCI’s 75th anniversary celebrations and aims to recognise talented Indian applicants through a mix of merit-based and need-based financial aid. By providing dedicated funding, the initiative seeks to make studying in Ireland more accessible while encouraging more Indian students to explore postgraduate opportunities in the country.

The announcement reflects Ireland’s growing efforts to attract Indian talent to its higher education system, particularly in areas that align with global industry demands and innovation-driven careers.

The initiative was unveiled during a special event in New Delhi, attended by Ireland’s Ambassador to India, Kevin Kelly, along with senior representatives from the education sector and institutional partners.

WHAT IS THE RS 75 LAKH SCHOLARSHIP INITIATIVE?

The scholarship program will provide financial support to Indian postgraduate students enroling in select programs at the National College of Ireland. The assistance will be offered in the form of tuition fee reductions, making overseas education more accessible to talented students who demonstrate both academic merit and financial need.

According to NCI President Professor Gina Quinn, the scholarship initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality international education.

She noted that as global workforce demands evolve, universities must ensure that international students receive not only strong academic training but also career-oriented support that leads to sustainable employment opportunities.

WHICH COURSES ARE COVERED UNDER THE SCHOLARSHIP?

The scholarships will be available to Indian students pursuing postgraduate degrees in the following disciplines:

  • Business
  • Computer Science
  • Psychology

These programs are designed to align closely with industry requirements and prepare graduates for employment in rapidly evolving sectors such as technology, finance, and corporate management.

WHY IS IRELAND BECOMING POPULAR AMONG INDIAN STUDENTS?

Ireland has increasingly become a preferred destination for Indian students seeking postgraduate education abroad. One major reason is the country’s post-study work framework, which allows eligible non-EU graduates to remain in Ireland for up to two years after completing a Level 9 qualification.

This system provides graduates with an opportunity to gain professional experience and build careers within Ireland’s growing technology and financial sectors.

WHAT MAKES NATIONAL COLLEGE OF IRELAND ATTRACTIVE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?

Founded in 1951, the National College of Ireland is a state-funded, non-profit institution supported by Ireland’s Higher Education Authority. Over the past seven decades, it has built a reputation for academic excellence and strong industry partnerships.

Currently home to more than 6,500 students, the college maintains close links with companies across Ireland’s technology and finance sectors, ensuring that academic programs remain aligned with industry needs.

Robert Ward, NCI’s Director of Marketing and International Development, emphasised that the institution focuses not only on access to education but also on graduate employability through industry-integrated programmes and strong academic support networks.

HOW DOES THIS INITIATIVE STRENGTHEN INDIA-IRELAND ACADEMIC RELATIONS?

The scholarship announcement formed part of NCI’s broader efforts to deepen its engagement with India. NCI’s growing community of Indian alumni further highlights the strengthening educational relationship between India and Ireland.

The Rs 75 lakh scholarship initiative by the National College of Ireland marks a significant step toward expanding educational opportunities for Indian students seeking globally relevant postgraduate degrees.

By combining financial assistance with industry-focused programs and strong career pathways, the initiative reflects Ireland’s increasing commitment to attracting skilled international talent. For Indian students aiming to build global careers, the program could open doors to quality education and professional opportunities in one of Europe’s fastest-growing knowledge economies.
