Tata Sierra crosses 10,000 deliveries in under two months

Tata Motors has announced that it has delivered 10,000 units of the Sierra, marking a good response to the return of one of India’s most iconic SUVs. Reintroduced in November last year, bookings for the Sierra opened on December 16, 2025, with customer deliveries commencing from January 15, 2026.

The new Sierra retains its instantly recognisable boxy silhouette, now reimagined with contemporary surfacing and a commanding stance. Clean lines, broad shoulders and an upright posture give the SUV a strong road presence, while the design pays homage to the original through a modern take on the signature glasshouse.

The earlier three-quarter glass section has been reinterpreted with flush glazing, a panoramic sunroof and a blacked-out roof finisher, preserving the airy character while complying with present-day safety norms.

Exterior design

Up front, a gloss-black panel integrates connected LED DRLs, projector headlamps and an illuminated Tata logo. Notably, the Sierra features what Tata claims are India’s slimmest production headlamps, built around a 17mm bi-LED module.

At the rear, an end-to-end LED light bar and a clamshell tailgate add both visual drama and functional practicality. Tata even facilitated the establishment of a dedicated production line for the tail-lamp unit, as no domestic supplier could initially meet the design brief.

Other highlights include flush door handles, hidden waist seals, 19-inch alloy wheels, pronounced body cladding and roof rails. The design has already earned global recognition, winning the 2025 Red Dot Design Award.

Interior design

Inside, the focal point is the TheatrePro triple-screen layout, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch passenger screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster housed under a single seamless glass panel.

Built on Tata’s new ARGOS architecture, the Sierra benefits from generous proportions. Measuring 4,340mm in length with a 2,730mm wheelbase, 1,841mm in width and 1,715mm in height, the SUV offers ample cabin space. The panoramic sunroof, 1,525mm long and 925mm tall, enhances the sense of openness.

Headroom stands at 1,042mm for the front row and 1,004mm for the second row, while rear legroom measures an impressive 973mm. The boot capacity is rated at 622 litres. Premium touches include soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, a floating armrest and powered, ventilated front seats with memory function.

Features

The Sierra is positioned as a feature-rich offering. Key highlights include ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control with express cooling, rear sunshades, two-stage reclining rear seats with boss mode, an air purifier, cooled glovebox, paddle shifters (on select variants), wireless charging, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera system offering 14 views.

Audio duties are handled by a JBL Black 12-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, paired with Tata’s SonicShaft soundbar. The SUV also debuts a head-up display, a first for a Tata passenger vehicle alongside the brand’s full suite of IRA connected car technologies.

Multiple engine options, AWD on the way

Tata offers the Sierra with three engine options across petrol and diesel line-ups. The range-topping unit is the new 1.5-litre TGDi Hyperion turbo-petrol engine, producing 160bhp and 255Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine delivers 106bhp and 145Nm, available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Diesel buyers get the 1.5-litre Kyrojet motor producing 118bhp and up to 280Nm (with the automatic), offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.

Tata has confirmed that an all-wheel-drive variant will join the portfolio at a later stage, leveraging the ARGOS platform’s all-terrain capability. The SUV boasts a 26.5-degree approach angle, 23.1-degree ramp-over angle, 31.6-degree departure angle, 205mm ground clearance and a 10.6-metre turning circle.

Crossing the 10,000-delivery mark within weeks of launch signals a promising start for the reborn Sierra.
