In an official communication, the Mandir management stated that the step was taken in light of the evolving situation in the region and in alignment with government-issued security advisories. The temple emphasised that the wellbeing of devotees, volunteers and staff remains paramount, and that the temporary closure is intended to minimise any potential risks during a period of increased alert.

Prayers continue within the mandir

Despite the temporary pause on public visits, the Mandir clarified that religious observances inside the premises will continue uninterrupted. Priests and Swamis will go on with their daily rituals and prayers, making special supplications for peace, protection, and the well-being of all communities.

The temple administration has also appealed to the people to remain calm and seek information only through government sources. It urged people to avoid rumours and comply with any safety measures advised by authorities.

In its message, the Mandir conveyed its support for the country and reiterated its dedication to harmony and strength. Further updates on the reopening of the facilities will be communicated in due course.

Developments in the region heighten security measures

The closure of the facilities comes at a time of heightened geopolitical instability in West Asia, with retaliatory strikes between Iran, the USA, and Israel. Reports of attacks on strategic and civilian infrastructure have heightened anxiety in the region. In the recent past, airport operations in some parts of the UAE, including Dubai, have been affected. Some flights have been delayed, diverted, and in some cases, halted in response to the security situation.

Although the country has been able to maintain stability and quick response mechanisms, authorities have urged entities and individuals to exercise vigilance in response to the developments. Entities have been urged to keep abreast of updates, avoid spreading false information, and strictly adhere to security directives.

A symbol of harmony in the UAE

Inaugurated in 2024, the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is the first traditional stone Hindu temple in the UAE and symbolizes the spirit of religious harmony. Crafted with traditional techniques and intricate designs, the temple has been a hub of visitors of various religious and national backgrounds since its inauguration.
