Samsung says do not expect a Galaxy S25 Edge, TriFold sequel anytime soon

If you’ve been waiting for Samsung to launch the Galaxy S26 Edge, well, it seems like you’ll have to wait longer. The company just confirmed that is is not planning a successor to its razor-thin Galaxy S25 Edge phone anytime soon. The TriFold 2 is also not in the works at least for now. But Samsung will have you know that both devices are not cancelled altogether. They are just not on priority at the time of writing.

The information come straight from the horse’s mouth. In an interview with Bloomberg, the President and COO of Samsung’s MX division Won-Joon Choi, has confirmed that the company doesn’t plan to release the Galaxy S26 Edge or Galaxy Z TriFold 2 in the near future, though he has not completely dismissed the future prospects of both devices. The senior Samsung executive has also detailed the reasoning behind the move.

For Galaxy S26 Edge, you can blame poor sales as the main reason why Samsung is choosing to take a wait and watch strategy. The Galaxy S25 Edge hasn’t performed as well as some of Samsung’s more mainstream Galaxy S-series phones like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra and so, “We haven’t made a decision on when to launch the next one, but it’s still being considered,” Choi told Bloomberg.

Not just the Galaxy S25 Edge, even Apple’s iPhone Air which is built around the same “thin and light” template, isn’t selling like hot cakes. The future of the iPhone Air 2 is also uncertain, according to multiple reports.

Speaking about the Galaxy Z TriFold, Choi said the triple-folding device was more of an R&D flex that showed off Samsung’s engineering might. The catch here is that it was priced exorbitantly making it out of reach for a lot of buyers, same reason why it had limited availability. Samsung did not launch the TriFold in India at all even though it is one of its biggest markets. It was only recently released in the US and has been out of stock soon after launch.

While the TriFold 2 may not come anytime soon, Samsung is reportedly working on a new wide-screen Galaxy Z Fold and plans to launch it soon. The wide Fold is said to be in response to Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone which is also tipped to come with a wide screen and no or minimal crease in the middle. More details are awaited.
