The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Brandon Bussi to a three-year contract extension, carrying $1. 5 million AAV, as announced by the club on Monday. As per reports, Eric Tulsky, the General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced that the team has signed a contract extension with the goaltender.
According to the NHL, to celebrate Bussi’s extension, the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation will make a $10,000 donation to the Autism Society of North Carolina. Bussi’s younger brother, Dylan, has autism, and Brandon’s goalie mask is a tribute to Dylan meant to raise awareness.
Earlier, Bussi signed a one-year deal with the Florida Panthers on July 1 but was picked up by Carolina off waivers on October 5. According to reports, Bussi has appeared in 27 games with the Hurricanes this season, going 23-3-1 with a 2.16 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.

goaltender Brandon Bussi has reportedly signed a three- year contract extension with the Carolina Hurricanes, as the club’s General Manager Eric Tulsky announced on Monday. The deal will pay Bussi an average annual value of $1. 9 million through the 2028-29 season.
Speaking about the contract extension, Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky stated, “Before we brought him to Raleigh, Brandon had been successful at every level from the USHL to college to the AHL.”
He further added, “Given the opportunity at the NHL level this season, he’s proven to be a winner here too. We are thrilled that he will continue to provide a steady presence in the crease for this team into the future. ”
As reported by NHL, the goaltender was on waivers from the Florida Panthers on October 5, 2025, and this season, Bussi has appeared in 27 games with the Hurricanes this season, going 23-3-1 with a 2.16 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
Previously, the undrafted player spent the last three years in the Boston Bruins’ organization, playing three full seasons with the team’s AHL affiliate in Providence.
The goaltender made his NHL debut against the San Jose Sharks on October 14, earning a 5-1 victory. He recorded his first NHL shutout on November 30 against the Calgary Flames, and matched a franchise record with nine consecutive wins between October 30 and December 19, as reported by NHL.com.
Bussi has also become the fastest goaltender in NHL history to reach 10 wins (12/11 at Washington, 10-1-0), 15 wins (1/6 vs. Dallas, 15-2-1), and 20 wins (1/29 vs. Utah, 20-3-1). He currently ranks tied for third in the NHL with 23 wins this season and second in the league in goals in a minimum of 18 games. He has also recorded his 21st career win, breaking the NHL record for most wins by a goaltender through his first 25 games, surpassing NHL icons like Andrew Hammond and Bill Durnan.
