“I’m going to bring her some medal”: Slovakia’s Martin Fehervary chasing for an Olympic medal for his newborn daughter Anna

Washington Capitals defenseman Martin Fehervary, who is now representing Slovakia, is chasing an Olympic medal with Team Slovakia at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, is hoping to gift his newborn daughter, Anna, with an Olympic medal. As the team prepares for the upcoming quarter-finals match, the team is pretty confident about advancing to the semi-finals, and subsequently to the finals of the men’s ice hockey tournament.

Martin Fehervary and his longtime girlfriend, Natalia Levius, gave birth to a baby girl on January 31, 2026. As the player is busy chasing gold with Slovakia at the Winter Olympic Games, his partner, Natalia, is taking care of their daughter.

Besides, this season, the blueliner has four goals and 16 assists, along with a plus/minus rating of plus-11, 72 hits, and a team-best 119 blocks. Let’s take a look at what the player said about the perfect gift for her daughter.

Team Slovakia’s Martin Fehervary plans to gift an Olympic medal to daughter Anna

As Team Slovakia advanced to the quarterfinals, the team is eyeing to secure a position at the semi-finals and the finals of the men’s hockey tournament at the Winter Olympic Games, Martin Fehervary is planning to gift an Olympic medal to daughter Anna. According to the NHL, Fehervary’s girlfriend, Natalia, gave birth to Anna on January 31, two days after the Washington Capitals finished a six-game, 12-day road trip.

Sharing about honoring his baby girl with a medal, the defenseman for Team Slovakia and the Washington Capitals said, “I hope I’m going to bring her some medal.” Fehervary also expressed that he was nervous throughout the trip that he would miss the birth.

“I said if she would not be born before the Olympics started, I would not go,” he said. However, he had a week at home to spend with Anna before leaving for Milan on February 7.

Meanwhile, his girlfriend Natalia and Anna are healthy in the U.S., easing his focus amid daily video calls during the high-stakes event. “I’m trying to call them as much as I can. It’s a little bit hard, especially for my girlfriend. She’s just with her mother, but still, after labor it’s tough, emotions are high and low.

We’re trying to get together and supporting each other,” he further added.

At the Olympics so far, Slovakia lost to Finland 4-1 in the tournament opener for both teams. But, they managed to win 3-2 against Team Italy before losing 5-3 to Team Sweden. It is worth noting that the Slovaks will face Germany in the quarterfinals on February 18 (6:10 a.m. ET). A win would advance them to the semifinals on Friday. But it would be tough for Fehervary, as he would face strong players like Leon Draisaitl of Team Germany.
