Vodafone Idea Raises Rs 1,999 Plan to Rs 2,249 with Extra Data

Vodafone Idea has increased the price of its popular Rs 1,999 annual prepaid plan by Rs 250, now costing subscribers Rs 2,249. The telecom operator states this revision was necessary due to unsustainable pricing, marking another price hike in the industry expected to continue through 2025.

Key Changes in Vi’s Annual Plan

The Rs 1,999 plan revision delivers both a price increase and additional data benefits to customers. While subscribers now pay Rs 250 more annually, they receive extra data allocations depending on their telecom circle.

Previous Plan: Rs 1,999

  • Unlimited voice calls
  • 3,600 SMS
  • 24GB or 36GB data (circle-dependent)
  • 365-day validity
  • Extra data at Rs 0.50/MB
  • Effective daily cost: Rs 5.40

New Plan: Rs 2,249

  • Unlimited voice calls
  • 3,600 SMS
  • 30GB or 40GB data (increased by 4-6GB)
  • 365-day validity
  • Extra data at Rs 0.50/MB
  • Effective daily cost: Rs 6.16

Circle-Wise Data Allocation

30GB Data Circles: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chennai, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, Maharashtra & Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu (excluding Chennai), Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Western Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal

40GB Data Circles: Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Northeast, Odisha

Comparison with Airtel

Vi’s new Rs 2,249 plan now directly competes with Airtel’s similarly priced offering. Both provide unlimited calling, 3,600 SMS, and 30GB data with one-year validity. However, Airtel typically includes additional benefits like Perplexity Pro AI access and free Hello Tunes.

According to a Telecom Talk report, Vodafone Idea offers approximately 100 prepaid plans to its customer base. This price adjustment affects the company’s annual voice-centric plan subscribers who now pay more but receive enhanced data benefits in return.
