The company acknowledged Mr. Sharma’s crucial role in shaping Panasonic’s business strategy, growth trajectory, and organizational culture in the Indian market.

Tenure Highlights and Industry Impact

During his 13-year leadership, Mr. Sharma transformed Panasonic into a prominent player in India’s fast-growing appliance market. The company gained significant market visibility in room air conditioners and LED television segments under his guidance.

His contributions were recognized in 2016 when he was elevated to the Executive Committee of Panasonic Corporation, the Japanese parent company.

Mr. Sharma has been a strong advocate of the Make in India initiative, overseeing substantial expansion of Panasonic’s local manufacturing capabilities in India. He played key roles in industry bodies, including:

  • Heading the Electronics Manufacturing Committee at FICCI
  • Instrumental in implementing the first PLI scheme for white goods
  • Member of the government’s SCALE Committee for boosting local manufacturing
