The sheriff’s office confirmed 13 individuals were shot during the incident that occurred in a rural area outside Maxton, approximately 150 kilometres southwest of Raleigh near the South Carolina border.

Authorities have assured the public that “There is no current threat to the community as this appears to have been an isolated incident.”

Homicide investigators were dispatched to the scene early Saturday following the shooting.

Mass Exodus Before Police Arrival

More than 150 people fled the location before law enforcement officers arrived at the party scene.

Sheriff’s investigators are appealing to anyone with information about the shooting or who were present at the scene to come forward and contact authorities.
