India vs WI 2nd Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal slams 7th red ball ton; joins elite club that features Sachin Tendulkar

Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal put an absolute show on Friday during the second Test match between India and West Indies in Delhi, slamming his seventh century in the longest format of cricket.

At just 23 years of age, Jaiswal is now second only to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most Test hundreds scored at this age, further cementing his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket. Additionally, he became the fastest Indian to accumulate 3,000 international runs, achieving this feat in just 49 matches.

Jaiswal, who opened the innings with KL Rahul, has stayed put facing over 150 deliveries and building a 150+-run partnership with Sai Sudharsan.

His fluent batting displayed composure and maturity, anchoring India’s innings and frustrating the West Indies bowling attack.

India vs WI till Lunch on Day 1

Earlier in the morning, India got off to a confident start after captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal (40, 78 balls)* and KL Rahul (38 off 54) added a solid 58-run opening stand before Rahul was stumped by Tevin Imlach off Jomel Warrican. At lunch, India were 94 for 1, with Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan (16 off 36) steady at the crease.

Jaiswal, who has faced over 150 deliveries so far, has anchored India’s innings with composure, forming a strong 150-plus partnership with Sudharsan. His stroke play and temperament frustrated the West Indies bowling attack, led by Anderson Phillip and Jomel Warrican.

India retained the same XI that won the first Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs, while West Indies made two changes—Tevin Imlach and Anderson Phillip replaced Brandon King and Johann Layne.
