Shiva, an IT professional and avid hiker, has been exploring trails around the city for over a decade. He combines his love for adventure with a commitment to keeping nature clean. “I’ve been hiking since 2010, and for me, it’s always been about the adventure and the rush of adrenaline.

Over the years, it has also become about giving back to the places I love. Whenever I go hiking around the city on weekends, I make it a point to collect non-biodegradable waste and help keep the trails clean. Sometimes I do it alone, sometimes with a small group. It feels good to make a small difference while doing something I enjoy,” he says.

Deepika Mahidhara, executive and life coach, shares why she loves hiking, “I find hiking so refreshing.

It lets you meet new people and connect in a relaxed, natural setting. You’re outdoors, breathing fresh air, moving your body, and reconnecting with nature. It’s stress-free and a meaningful way to socialise while doing something good for yourself,” she says.

I think people are drawn to hiking for three main reasons. It’s a chance to get out into nature, stay active in a relaxed way, and connect with a community. You meet others, make friends, and enjoy a mix of nature, fitness and social connection
