Dolly Parton postpones Las Vegas residency: Country singer’s sister breaks silence on her health issues days after the singer announced postponement

Days after country music legend Dolly Parton postponed her Las Vegas residency due to “health challenges,” her sister, Freida Parton, shared an update on Facebook and sought prayers from Parton’s fans. The Grammy winner was all set to perform in Las Vegas at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace starting in December 2025.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,” the music legend’s sister, Freida Parton, wrote in a post on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Concluding with a heart emoji, Freida wrote, “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

The Facebook post from Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida, comes more than a week after the American singer and actress announced the postponement of her upcoming Las Vegas residency, “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas.” On September 28, 2025, the 79-year-old revealed that she would be postponing her Las Vegas residency dates by nearly a year to focus on her health.

“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” Dolly wrote in the announcement.

“In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You see good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”

She ended her note saying, “And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”

The country singer’s medical ordeal comes after a tough year. In March 2025, she announced that her husband, Carl Dean, had died at the age of 82. According to PEOPLE, it would have been the first time that she performed an extended run in the city in more than 30 years; the residency is now slated to launch in September 2026.
