Ahead of debut, The Smashing Pumpkins cancel India performances due to “logistical challenges”

Iconic American rock band The Smashing Pumpkins have cancelled their debut performances in India this October, according to a social media post on their official page.

Ahead of the music concert season in India, the announcement on their Facebook page comes a week before they were set to perform for the first time in the country as a part of their Rock Invasion 2025 Asia Tour. The post read, “Due to unexpected logistical challenges and conditions out of our control, we have to cancel our two upcoming shows in Bangalore and Mumbai. We cannot perform these shows up to the standards that we and our fans expect.”

They were scheduled to perform at Transform Arena in Bengaluru on October 11, followed by Jio World Garden in Mumbai on October 12, getting many Indian fans excited when they made the announcement in August, but now are left disappointed, and will have to wait for another time to see them live in the country.

The band, which has an illustrious career with three-decade career-spanning setlist, is known for classics like ‘Tonight, Tonight’, ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’, ‘Today’ and ‘1979’ alongside innovative works including ‘ATUM’ and the celebrated ‘Aghori Mhori Mei’ as well as recent smash hits such as ‘Sighommi’ and ‘Beguiled’.

For those who don’t know, The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most iconic and influential bands of all time, shaping alternative music and culture. Since forming in Chicago in 1988, the group have sold over 30 million albums worldwide and garnered two GRAMMY Awards, seven MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. Their catalogue includes seminal offerings such as the platinum Gish (1991), the quadruple-platinum Siamese Dream (1993), the diamond-certified Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), the platinum Adore (1998), and the gold Machina/The Machines of God (2000).

Giving alternative music and culture their signature sound, they produced the idyllic album artwork for ‘Siamese Dream’, the black Zero shirt in the ‘1979’ music video, the gothic metamorphosis of ‘Ava Adore’, or the multi-dimensional live shows that sell out worldwide to this day.
