Instagram, the social media platform owned by Meta, reportedly encountered technical issues on Tuesday, affecting users on the platform. The issue appears to be affecting users in the United States the most. According to Downdetector, around 10,725 reports were recorded from the region. In comparison, users in India have also experienced difficulties accessing the platform, but the number of reports is significantly lower at 252. Meanwhile, about 135 users in the United Kingdom have reported similar problems. Users reported difficulties while trying to access the app and its services.
The reports indicate that the outage impacted a large number of users in the US during the period when the complaints were recorded.
User complaints vary across regions
In India, 77 per cent of users reported issues accessing the app, while 13 per cent faced problems with the website and 11 per cent experienced server connection issues. In the United States, 71 per cent of users reported problems with the app, 19 per cent faced server connection issues, and 5 per cent reported difficulties with the feed or timeline. In the United Kingdom, 60 per cent of users experienced issues with the app, 18 per cent reported problems with the feed or timeline, and 12 per cent faced difficulties with posting or publishing content.
Company yet to respond as major US cities report issues
The company has not yet acknowledged the issue or released any official statement regarding the outage. The last disruption to the service was reported several months ago, and the platform had been functioning normally in recent days.
Reports indicate that some of the worst-affected areas in the United States include New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington, Dallas, Phoenix, San Diego, and San Francisco, among others.
