Elon Musk Extends Diwali Greetings Amid Tesla India Expansion

Elon Musk Extends Diwali Greetings to India

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk extended warm Diwali wishes to millions celebrating the Festival of Lights worldwide on Monday.

Key Takeaways

  • Elon Musk shared Diwali greetings on X, reposting Tesla India’s “electrifying and safe Diwali” message
  • Tesla has begun Model Y deliveries in India with Long Range variant coming soon
  • Musk recently became first person to reach $500 billion net worth

The billionaire entrepreneur reposted a Diwali greeting on social media platform X, simply stating “Happy Diwali” while tagging a post from Tesla India that wished followers “an electrifying and safe Diwali.”

Musk’s Financial Milestones

This greeting comes shortly after Musk achieved a historic financial milestone. On October 2, he became the world’s first person to reach a net worth of $500 billion, with Oracle’s Larry Ellison trailing at a distant second.

According to Forbes’ billionaires index, Musk’s net worth stood at $500.1 billion on October 2. This achievement coincided with Tesla shares rising over 14% year-to-date, closing 3.3% higher on Wednesday (US time), adding more than $6 billion to Musk’s wealth.

Meanwhile, Musk’s AI startup xAI was valued at $75 billion as of July. The company had been targeting a $200 billion valuation after a fundraise, though Musk clarified the company wasn’t raising capital at that time.

Tesla’s India Expansion

In related developments, Tesla has commenced deliveries of the standard Model Y to Indian customers, with the Long Range variant expected to begin deliveries soon.

The electric vehicle manufacturer announced that new Model Y owners will receive a complimentary Wall Connector for convenient home charging installation. The Model Y starts at Rs 59.89 lakh.

This expansion follows Tesla’s August opening of its first National Capital Region showroom at Aerocity’s Worldmark 3 complex, marking the company’s second retail location in India after Mumbai.

Global Tech Leaders Join Festive Spirit

Several other technology industry leaders extended Diwali greetings throughout the day. Apple CEO Tim Cook shared festive wishes alongside an image captured by an Indian photographer using an iPhone 17 Pro Max. Google CEO Sundar Pichai also extended his greetings for the festival of lights.
