Stephen Miller, Trump’s ‘Prime Minister’ faces backlash after his remarks on far‑left judges following South Carolina judge Diane Goodstein house fire

During his speech at the memorial for conservative activist Charlie Kirk two weeks ago, Stephen Miller made headlines after issuing a stark warning to the leftwing forces he believes were responsible for the assassination. “You have no idea the dragon you have awakened,” he said, addressing his ideological enemies.

Now, after a massive fire destroyed the Edisto Beach home of South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein on Saturday, October 4, his comments made on the same day on ‘leftwing terrorism’ and ‘far-left Democrat judges’ went viral.

The fire incident at Diane Goodstein’s house

Authorities are investigating the fire incident that occurred on Saturday, as well as the possibility of arson. However, authorities have not directly blamed the fire on foul play. The fire reportedly forced her husband, former Democratic state Senator Arnold Goodstein, to jump out the window.

The other three family members, including her husband, were injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. The 69-year-old Circuit Court judge was reportedly walking along the beach when the fire broke out.

What Stephen Miller actually said?

After the house was destroyed by fire, Miller’s X post from October 4 went viral: “The issue before is now is very simple and clear. There is a large and growing movement of leftwing terrorism in this country.”

The White House Deputy Chief of Staff had alleged the left-wing terrorism with what he describes as ‘Democrat judges’, “It is well organized and funded. And it is shielded by far-left Democrat judges, prosecutors and attorneys general. The only remedy is to use legitimate state power to dismantle terrorism and terror networks.”

Although he did not specifically target anyone, his remarks and the timing were slammed by some users on X. One wrote, ‘we need to get to the bottom of what happened here but this happened hours after Stephen Miller attacked judges for insurrection.’

Who is Stephen Miller and how powerful is he?

Stephen N. Miller (born August 23, 1985) is an American political advisor, currently serving as White House deputy chief of staff for policy and US homeland security advisor since 2025. Known as one of the most influential figures in the Trump administration, his politics are described as far-right, anti-immigration, and white nationalist.

Miller began his political career in conservative student activism at Duke University and later served as press secretary for Congress members Michele Bachmann and John Shadegg and as communications director for Senator Jeff Sessions, where he helped defeat the 2013 immigration reform bill.

Miller is one of America’s most powerful unelected bureaucrats. As Steve Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist during his first term, once said, “He’s prime minister. I don’t think there’s an aspect of domestic policy — outside of some areas of national security and treasury functions and finance and things like that — that he’s not intimately involved in,” FT quoted.
