Russian Court Sentences Eight to Life for Crimean Bridge Bombing
A Russian court has handed life imprisonment sentences to eight men convicted for their involvement in the 2022 bomb attack on the Crimean Bridge.
The explosion on October 8, 2022, tore through sections of the 19-kilometer bridge, killing five people and severely damaging what served as a crucial supply route for Russian military operations in Ukraine at the time.
Ukraine’s domestic intelligence agency, the SBU, subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack.
This sentencing relates to an attack on infrastructure connecting the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014, to Russia’s Krasnodar region.
