Multiple Stabbings on UK Train Near Cambridge

Two suspects have been arrested after multiple people were stabbed on a train near Cambridge, UK, prompting a major armed police response on Saturday evening.

Key Details of the Attack

British Transport Police responded to reports of multiple stabbings on a train bound for Huntingdon. Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed armed officers were dispatched to Huntingdon station at approximately 7:39 pm following emergency calls about the violent attack.

The train was stopped at Huntingdon station, located about 75 miles (120 kilometres) north of London, where authorities arrested two men in connection with the incident. Several victims were transported to hospital for medical treatment, though their current conditions remain undisclosed.

Official Responses

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the attack as an “appalling incident” and expressed his solidarity with those affected. “My thanks go to the emergency services for their response,” he stated in a post on X.

Paul Bristow, the mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, reported hearing about “horrendous scenes” aboard the train during the incident.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have not yet released information about the victims’ medical conditions or the possible motive behind the attack. The investigation remains active as police continue to gather evidence from the scene.
