  1. Ivan Miller is a 22-year-old man from Blakesburg, Iowa.
  2. He was arrested in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, early Thursday morning following a multi-state search.
  3. Miller was booked by the Pagosa Springs Police Department on a single charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
  4. Investigators are working to determine a motive, noting the homicides do not appear to be targeted.
  5. Miller has no known connections to the victims or ties to Wayne County.

About the case

On Wednesday afternoon, authorities were called to a hiking trail where two deceased women were discovered. During the investigation, a third woman was found dead in her home in Lyman, Utah, approximately 15 miles away. The victims have been identified only by age ranges: 30s, 60s, and 80s.

According to Newsweek, investigators believe that suspect Ivan Miller first killed the woman in Lyman. He then allegedly took her car to the trailhead, where the other two women were killed. Miller is believed to have abandoned that vehicle and fled in another victim’s car, which was later found in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Following the suspect’s arrest, the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement, saying, “We have received confirmation that a suspect in the Wayne County homicides was captured early this morning. The suspect is in law enforcement custody. We greatly appreciate all our law enforcement and investigation partners, and all of our citizens who provided tips and assisted in the process. We ask for patience as the investigation progresses. Official details will come from Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Utah Department of Public Safety.”

No threat to public

On Wednesday, the Utah Department of Public Safety and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office had urged residents in and around Torrey, Utah to remain vigilant while the suspect was at large.

After Miller was taken into custody, authorities confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

“There are no ongoing threats to the public, and investigators have no outstanding suspects,” Utah Department of Public Safety said.
