Husband catches Indiana school secretary having sex with a student

A 31-year-old school secretary in Union City has been arrested following a police investigation into allegations that she engaged in sexual relationships with two students, authorities said.

According to police, officers responded over the weekend to a report of a domestic battery. During the investigation, officers were informed that the woman’s husband had discovered her with an 18-year-old student and confronted her. The reported domestic incident is being investigated separately by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.

The initial response led police to examine the woman’s conduct further.

Investigators identified her as Alicia Hughes, who was employed as a secretary with the Randolph Eastern School Corporation. Police allege that Hughes was also involved in a separate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Authorities said the alleged relationship with the minor occurred on multiple occasions. Hughes was arrested and charged with five counts of child seduction in connection with that allegation.

Police have not announced any charges related to the reported encounter involving the 18-year-old student.

Hughes was taken into custody and transported to the Randolph County Jail, where she is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond. Her husband has not been publicly identified, and authorities have not said whether charges will be filed in connection with the reported domestic incident.

The school corporation confirmed that Hughes has been removed from duties involving students while the legal process continues. District officials said they would not comment further due to the ongoing investigation and the need to protect student privacy.

The Union City Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional information may be released as the case proceeds.
