US Embassy Issues Security Advisory After Delhi Car Blast Kills 8

The US Embassy in India has issued a security advisory for American citizens following a deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station that killed eight people and injured 24 others on Monday evening.

Key Security Measures

  • Avoid travel to Red Fort and Chandni Chowk areas
  • Stay alert in tourist-frequented locations
  • Steer clear of crowded places
  • Be aware of surroundings at all times

The embassy has updated its emergency contact information with phone numbers of consuls general across India as security concerns escalate nationwide.

Nationwide Security Alert

The blast has triggered high alerts across multiple Indian states and cities. Police have intensified vehicle inspections at entry and exit points of major urban centers.

Multiple agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guard (NSG) are investigating the incident that occurred at 6:55 PM near Red Fort Metro Station Gate No. 1.

High-Level Government Response

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will conduct a high-level security meeting on Tuesday to address the situation. Shah visited the blast site on Monday and assured that “all angles will be probed” to determine whether the explosion was a terrorist attack.

The Home Minister also visited Lok Narayan Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital to meet with injured victims from the incident.

Enhanced Security Deployment

Security forces have cordoned off the affected area and tightened surveillance around Chandni Chowk and other crowded zones in Delhi.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has placed critical installations including Delhi Metro stations, government offices, Red Fort, and Indira Gandhi International Airport under heightened security monitoring.
