Spotify Now Lets Android Users Share Music Directly to WhatsApp Status
Spotify has launched a new feature enabling Android users to share songs, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks directly to their WhatsApp Status. This follows similar integrations already available for Instagram and Facebook.
Key Takeaways
- Share Spotify tracks to WhatsApp Status with one tap
- Status displays cover art, title, and “Open on Spotify” link
- Includes 30-second audio preview for recipients
- Available to both free and Premium users globally
How to Share Spotify to WhatsApp Status
To share content, simply tap the share button next to any track or playlist in the Spotify app and select WhatsApp. The shared Status will show the title, cover art, and include an “Open on Spotify” option that lets viewers directly access the content in their Spotify app.
Recipients can also listen to a short audio preview to decide if they like the track before opening it in Spotify. The shared Status remains visible for 24 hours, following WhatsApp’s standard Status duration.
Expanded Sharing Features Across Platforms
Spotify announced seven additional sharing methods, including direct messaging within the Spotify app itself. The company has enhanced Instagram integration, now allowing audio previews when songs are shared.
Instagram users can also share their current listening activity in real-time via Notes.
“It’s a seamless way to showcase your newest obsessions or timeless favourites while also keeping up with your friends’ finds,” Spotify stated.
The music streaming service is expanding partnerships with TikTok and Snapchat, bringing similar sharing capabilities to both platforms. Snapchat users will be able to share Spotify audio clips directly to Stories or via direct messages.
The new WhatsApp Status sharing feature will roll out to users globally over the coming weeks.
