WhatsApp Plus premium subscription plan may be in the works, here are all the details

WhatsApp is reportedly developing an optional premium subscription plan referred to as ‘WhatsApp Plus.’ The new plan could allow users to customise the app further, including changing the app icon and unlocking a variety of exclusive stickers and ringtones. WhatsApp Plus is expected to make the platform more personalised for users. However, the app’s core features — such as calling, texting, and sending voice notes — will remain unchanged. The subscription will be entirely optional, meaning users can continue using the free version of WhatsApp without switching to WhatsApp Plus.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Plus will offer several options to customise the app’s theme, icon, and accent colours. These may include 14 new WhatsApp icons and multiple colour choices for the interface, giving users greater control over the app’s appearance.

Under the new subscription model, WhatsApp may increase the limit for pinned chats from three to 20, giving users greater flexibility to keep their most important conversations easily accessible.
The report also mentions the possibility of exclusive ringtones for subscribers. These ringtones are said to feature distinctive styles and could allow users to personalise their calling notifications based on their preferences or moods. They may also help users easily distinguish WhatsApp call alerts from notifications sent by other apps.

To further enhance the experience for subscribers of WhatsApp Plus, the company may introduce additional features over time. These could include access to exclusive stickers, which may not be available to regular users, while some message reactions in the paid version may also become more interactive.

The report says that WhatsApp Plus is now under development, and when it rolls out, it will be available for both Android and iOS. However, WhatsApp is yet to confirm these specs, pricing or an official launch date for this plan.

WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a Scheduled Messages feature that could allow users to write messages in advance and have them delivered automatically at a chosen date and time. Once a message is scheduled, it may appear in a dedicated section within the chat info screen, allowing users to review, edit or delete the message before it is sent. The feature could make it easier to plan birthday wishes, reminders, or work-related updates ahead of time without relying on third-party apps or automation tools.
