Samsung Cancels Galaxy S26 Edge After S25 Edge Sales Disappoint

Samsung Cancels Galaxy S26 Edge After S25 Edge Sales Disappoint

Key Takeaways:

  • Samsung has reportedly cancelled the Galaxy S26 Edge launch for 2026
  • The decision follows poor sales performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge model
  • The entire “Edge” ultra-slim smartphone line is being discontinued

Samsung is discontinuing its Edge smartphone series after the Galaxy S25 Edge failed to meet sales expectations, according to industry reports. The South Korean tech giant has reportedly cancelled the planned Galaxy S26 Edge launch scheduled for 2026.

Samsung Scraps Edge Series Entirely

The company has decided to terminate its “ultra-slim line” just five months after the ambitious Galaxy S25 Edge launch in May 2025. Samsung has officially notified employees about discontinuing both the Galaxy S26 Edge and the complete slim smartphone lineup.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in January 2026 is now expected to feature only three models: , Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Industry sources indicate the slim line is unlikely to return in the foreseeable future.

Why the Galaxy S25 Edge Underperformed

The Galaxy S25 Edge faced multiple challenges that contributed to its market failure:

  • Battery Capacity: The 3,900mAh battery was described as “disappointing” for a premium device
  • Premium Pricing: The 256GB variant launched at KRW 1,496,000 (approximately ₹92,600) while the 512GB model cost KRW 1,639,000 (around ₹101,500)
  • Feature Compromises: Samsung sacrificed various specifications to maintain the slim design profile

Sales Figures Tell the Story

The Galaxy S25 Edge recorded only 190,000 units sold in its first month, significantly trailing behind other S25 series models. By comparison, the standard S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra sold 1.17 million, 840,000, and 2.55 million units respectively during the same period.

By August 2025, the sales gap had widened further. While the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra reached 8.28 million, 5.05 million, and 12.18 million units respectively, the Edge model managed only 1.13 million units total.

The device, positioned as Samsung’s next-generation trendsetter, ultimately failed to resonate with consumers despite its slim design and dual-camera setup.
