PlayStation Plus subscribers can get Alan Wake 2 for free starting October 7

PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to three diverse titles next week, headlined by the psychological horror sequel Alan Wake 2. The October monthly games—Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon—will be available from October 7 through November 3 for all PlayStation Plus members. Premium subscribers will also receive a one-hour trial of Midnight Murder Club.

Alan Wake 2 takes center stage

Remedy Entertainment’s survival horror title puts players in control of two protagonists across separate realities. Players alternate between returning character Alan Wake, trapped in a supernatural dimension called the Dark Place, and FBI agent Saga Anderson investigating murders in the Pacific Northwest towns of Bright Falls and Watery.

The game emphasizes resource management and strategic use of light as a weapon against hostile forces.

Variety rounds out the lineup

Goat Simulator 3 returns players to the hooves of protagonist Pilgor in an open-world sandbox supporting up to four-player cooperative and competitive multiplayer. The physics-based comedy game challenges players to cause mayhem across varied environments.

Cocoon, from Limbo and Inside lead designer Jeppe Carlsen, presents a puzzle adventure where entire worlds exist within portable orbs.

Players manipulate and combine these orbs to solve environmental puzzles across interconnected biomes featuring ancient alien technology.

Last chance for September games

Current PlayStation Plus members have until Oct. 6 to claim September’s offerings: Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, and Viewfinder. Once added to a member’s library, games remain accessible as long as the subscription stays active.

The service continues

Sony’s strategy of offering major AAA releases alongside independent titles, providing variety across genres and play styles for its subscriber base.
