Paytm Launches AI-Powered App with Gold Rewards on Payments

Key Takeaways

  • Paytm launches fully redesigned app with AI-powered features
  • New “Gold Coins” reward system gives digital gold on every payment
  • Cleaner interface with over 15 new features for smarter payments
  • Expanded support for NRIs from 12 countries

Paytm has unveiled a completely redesigned version of its flagship payments app, integrating artificial intelligence to streamline and personalize everyday transactions. The update brings a cleaner interface with over 15 new features aimed at making payments faster and smarter for users across India and NRIs in 12 countries.

AI-Powered Payment Intelligence

The revamped app uses AI to understand spending patterns, automatically organize transactions, and provide personalized insights. Key features include:

  • AI-tagged balance history showing total balance across UPI-linked accounts
  • Automated expense categorization into shopping, bills, travel, and utilities
  • Personalized spending insights to aid budgeting

Gold Coins: Rewards on Every Payment

One of the standout innovations is “Gold Coins,” a first-of-its-kind initiative that rewards users with digital gold on every payment. This adds a valuable savings dimension to regular transactions, making each payment potentially more rewarding.

Enhanced Privacy and Practical Features

The app introduces several practical enhancements including:

  • ‘Hide Payments’ feature for transaction privacy
  • Downloadable UPI statements in Excel or PDF format
  • Advanced payment search with multiple filtering criteria
  • Paytm Playback that turns spending data into AI-generated rap songs

Improved Convenience Tools

Daily payment convenience gets a boost with features like Magic Paste, which automatically fills bank details copied from WhatsApp messages, and Favourite Contacts for quick payments to frequent recipients. The built-in calculator helps sum payment amounts directly within the app, perfect for grocery and pharmacy bills.

Professional and Scanner Enhancements

Professionals including doctors, gym instructors, and drivers can use the Receive Money widget to accept payments directly from their home screen without opening the app. The new scanner offers enhanced QR code recognition from any angle, automatic flashlight in low light, and pinch-to-zoom for distant scanning.

Expanded NRI Support

The app now supports Non-Resident Indians from 12 countries, allowing them to link international numbers with NRE or NRO accounts for seamless UPI payments in Indian rupees.

“We have introduced the all-new Paytm app with a cleaner design, new AI-led experience, and innovations that make it the best payments app. With this, we are bringing intelligence to payments, where the app understands your spending, organises it automatically, and helps you manage it better. We are also giving Gold Coins on every payment, redeemable into real digital gold, so that every Paytm payment becomes a golden one. Built in India for every Indian, this is our next step in making payments truly smarter,” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO, Paytm.
