Pixel users are getting a new critical Android 16 update this week which is not flooded with features but takes care of some important issues plaguing the devices. The Android 16 October 2025 patch is available for Pixel 6, 7, 8, 9 and the latest 10 series models, including the foldables. It is not the biggest update in terms of the download size from Google but the mention of terms critical and security fix means all Pixel users should update to the latest available version right away.

The Android 16 update seems to have rolled out in phases across regions for Pixel users, and people in India have also got the new security patch from Google.

Android 16 October Update: What Pixel Users Get

The new October update for Pixel users comes with security fixes for earlier issues. Pixel 6 and later models are getting it this week but some regions have got a few feature fixes that many have complained about in the last few months. The details are:

  • Fix for screen flickering and shutdown issues
  • Fix for occasional lag or fuzzy display
  • Fix for system instability issues

There are some user interface fixes that Google had to work on features like camera, flashlight and media output switcher crashing suddenly.

We’re going to see a lot of Android 16-related news in the next few weeks. Brands like OnePlus, iQOO, Oppo and Realme are going to announce their Android 16-based versions that will be rolling out with the latest flagship devices.

OnePlus has already started the open and closed beta for OxygenOS 16 version, while iQOO is bringing the OriginOS 6 version based on Android 16 to the Indian market, along with Vivo for the first time. Xiaomi has launched its Hyper OS 3 version in China which should be made available in the other regions soon.

Apple has its own work cut out with the iOS 26.1 betas moving swiftly and should be available for all iPhone users later this month.
