Google AI Pro vs Perplexity Pro vs ChatGPT Go: Free Subscription Comparison

Key Takeaways

  • Three major AI subscriptions are now free for Indian users through telecom partnerships
  • Google AI Pro offers the longest free period (18 months) with extensive ecosystem integration
  • Perplexity Pro provides access to multiple AI models including GPT-5 and Claude 4.5
  • ChatGPT Go is more limited compared to the other two premium offerings

Major telecom providers in India are now offering premium AI subscriptions for free, giving millions of users access to advanced artificial intelligence tools. Reliance Jio provides Google AI Pro for 18 months, while Airtel offers Perplexity Pro for a year. OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go is also available free for Indian users starting November 4.

Subscription Comparison: Features and Capabilities

ChatGPT Go represents the most basic offering among the three, providing limited image generation and AI model access. In contrast, both Google AI Pro and Perplexity Pro deliver significantly more advanced features.

Google AI Pro subscribers get extended access to the powerful Gemini 2.5 Pro model with a 1 million token context window. The plan includes generous image generation limits through Nano Banana and professional video creation via Veo 3.1 Flash. Users also receive 2TB of cloud storage across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.

According to Google’s official blog, the AI Pro plan offers 20 times more access to Gemini 2.5 Pro compared to the free tier, plus 50 times more access to the Deep Research tool.

Perplexity Pro: Multi-Model Advantage

Perplexity distinguishes itself by providing access to multiple leading AI models through a single subscription. Users can leverage Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro, OpenAI’s GPT-5, and Anthropic’s Claude 4.5. The company also extends premium features to users of its Comet browser.

Value Assessment and Pricing

At regular pricing, Perplexity Pro costs ₹17,000 annually while Google AI Pro is priced at ₹19,500. Perplexity delivers superior value for users wanting diversity in AI models, while Google excels for those deeply integrated into the Google ecosystem.

Google’s Veo 3.1 Flash video generation remains among the industry’s best solutions, providing professional-grade video creation capabilities to subscribers.
