Smriti Mandhana joins Team Barbie with special doll before International Women’s Day

India Women’s star Smriti Mandhana has been honoured by Barbie ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8. The left-handed batter has been named in the brand’s first-ever Barbie Dream Team, a global initiative recognising women who have broken barriers and excelled in their fields.

Mandhana is the first cricketer to be immortalised with a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll in her likeness, celebrating her outstanding contributions to women’s cricket and her influence as a role model for young athletes worldwide.

The 29-year-old joins a list of trailblazers that includes tennis legend Serena Williams, who has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any player in the Open Era.

The limited-edition doll is part of a campaign designed to inspire girls to pursue their dreams and view sport as a powerful pathway to achievement.

SMRITI MANDHANA KEEPS RISING

Smriti Mandhana has been one of India’s most consistent and influential batters, establishing herself as a key figure at the top of the order across formats. She made her international debut in 2013 and has since become one of India’s most prolific run-scorers, amassing 5,411 ODI runs with 14 centuries and 4,231 T20I runs with one century and 33 fifties.

Last year, Mandhana was instrumental in India’s historic maiden Women’s World Cup triumph, scoring 434 runs in nine matches at an average of 54.25 and a strike rate of 99.08, including a top score of 109.

She also enjoyed recent success with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), leading them to their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title. Mandhana finished as the tournament’s top run-scorer with 377 runs and played a match-winning innings of 87 in the final against the Delhi Capitals.
