Marc Marquez reveals why his Ducati contract renewal is delayed: “When you are injured, you cannot make any decisions”

Marc Marquez dealt with health issues that proved to be a hiccup in his otherwise fast showing at the Buriram MotoGP test as the countdown continues to the season opener in Thailand. He has yet to renew his Ducati contract, which has led to speculation about his retirement if he does not agree to a multi-year extension. The MotoGP world champion recently explained the reasons behind the delay in re-signing with Ducati.

Marc Marquez unsure on Ducati future due to injury

Marc Marquez hinted that a recurring shoulder injury is making him reconsider signing a multi-year contract with Ducati. He told the media after the Buriram test, as quoted by GPBlog. com: “We are working on it with Ducati, but the ideal for them is two years because, if not, you are in the middle of nowhere. But at the moment, the most important thing for me was to start the preseason feeling better and better. I feel a small step — but a step — between the Malaysia test and here. ”

“So let’s see if I feel better with my physical condition. If I feel like today, where I felt a small step in my shoulder, and tomorrow another one, it will not be a problem for me to sign a two-year contract. It’s my biggest limitation. It’s what I learned: when you are injured, you cannot make any decisions or sign any contracts.”

Fans show full faith in Marc Marquez despite triple crash at Buriram test

Marquez suffered three crashes during the Buriram MotoGP test despite being one of the fastest riders on track. He explained that stomach issues contributed to his lack of concentration. However, he expressed excitement for the upcoming Thailand MotoGP at the end of the month.

A video from his post-test media interaction was shared on MotoGP’s official Instagram page, and fans showed their full support in the comments section.

Marquez said, “There were two difficult days with my physical condition. But honestly, today we did a very good job because we decided our package, our base, and I felt super good with the bike. During the whole day, I was riding well. It’s true that in the long-run simulation, I crashed, but honestly, it was my mistake. I lost concentration and missed the braking point. Apart from that, there was a crash in Turn 3. Let’s stay positive because the feeling throughout the day was good, the time attack was good, and the race pace was good.

Reacting to the video, one fan wrote, “He’s just testing the limit before the real race — typical Marc stuff on a testing day.” Another commented, “Whatever happens, he is the world champion.” A fan joked, “Marc, you need to stop thinking about your Amazon delivery while doing 220 mph.” Another advised, “Don’t push too hard.”

Marquez will return to the track for the Thailand MotoGP, scheduled at the Chang International Circuit from February 27 to March 1.
