Justin Thomas eyes a fresh start with a potential Tiger Woods alliance after splitting with his longtime partner

Justin Thomas sank the decisive putt for Atlanta Drive at the SoFi Center this week, marking his return to competitive golf after a five-month hiatus with a victory during prime time on ESPN. Fans have anticipated his return since September, and when Thomas finally backed off into the arena, they observed everything. Greyson Clothiers’ logo, on Thomas’s polo since March 2022, was absent on his shirt. Moreover, the golfer has also been taken off their website.

Tiger Woods calling Justin Thomas “younger brother” sparks a new direction

Many people speculated that Sun Day Red, Tiger Woods‘s brand, would be the probable next direction for Thomas. Others suggest that Thomas may follow Tommy Fleetwood’s strategy and wear whatever is accessible.

Tommy Fleetwood parted ways with Nike at the beginning of 2026 and wore various brands before showing up at the Genesis Invitational in Sun Day Red apparel. There was no announcement or press release, just a clear shift. Both Fleetwood and Thomas are TaylorMade staffers, and TaylorMade’s link to Sun Day Red makes the next move for Thomas easy to foresee.

Thomas’s apparel shift, it is what it signifies, comes with a layer that Fleetwood’s did not carry. Thomas and Woods share one of professional golf’s closest mentor-protégé relationships, a friendship that predates any commercial consideration.

Woods calls Justin Thomas his younger brother.

Thomas also approaches this moment differently compared to his previous change in apparel transition. The Ralph Lauren departure in January 2021 came under duress: a homophobic slur during a tournament round, a brand terminating the deal, and fourteen months without a sponsor. Greyson entered the picture in March 2022 as rehabilitation: “a loyalty based on respect and care,” according to the brand itself, representing a friendship built over a year of patience.

A likely departure now seems more like an end, not a separation, for a player who was given the green light for all competitive activities on February 10 and confirmed his PGA Tour comeback at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 5. Thomas has said he believes he has another twelve to fifteen years of top-level golf ahead of him. The apparel industry is watching closely.

Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red eyes major growth as Justin Thomas hits apparel free agency

Sun Day Red has maintained an intentionally limited ambassador list since it launched in 2024, featuring Woods and Karl Vilips, who won at the Puerto Rico Open last March. CEO David Abeles told Front Office Sports at the PGA Show in January 2026 that the brand was actively working with additional golfers who could “model our values,” adding that revenues had grown more rapidly than initially expected. The expansion mandate is a stated policy, supported by commercial momentum.

Thomas was once one of the few elite players associated with TaylorMade-adjacent who didn’t join the Sun Day Red brand when it was introduced, a noticeable absence considering how closely his professional life intersects with Woods’s.
