The Indian national football team had to settle for a draw against Singapore leaving a dent on the Blue Tigers’ chances of qualification for the 2027 AFC Asia Cup.

India stand third in the group with 2 points in their three outings thus far, behind table-toppers Hong Kong with 7 points and Singapore with 5 points to their name. Only Bangladesh, who have a solitary point in their three assignments stand below India in the qualification group.

India have three games left to play in order to keep their hopes for the continental showpiece appearance alive, but even so Khalid Jamil’s men will hope for other results to go their way too.

India are scheduled to take on Singapore and Hong Kong at home, and clash against Bangladesh on away territory and have the chance to add 9 points to their tally in case they manage to win all three of their remaining games.

The Blue Tigers will have to win all their game and hope for both Hong Kong and Singapore to drop points in their remaining fixtures. HK are slated to take on Bangladesh and Singapore on home soil and will secure qualification if they manage to win both.

In case of a tie in terms of points, results of the head-to-head clashes between the sides will be taken into consideration for progress and qualification. The first encounter between India and HK ended in favour of the hosts as Hong Kong registered a 1-0 win on known territory. In case, India and Singapore are tied at 11-point each at the end of the fixtures, India stand the chance to go through.
