Dense Fog Alert for Plains
The IMD predicts dense to very dense fog on Tuesday morning over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Visibility may plunge below 50 metres in isolated areas, significantly impacting road and rail traffic. Commuters are advised to exercise extreme caution.
Snowfall in the Himalayas
The Western Himalayan Region, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, is likely to see light to moderate rainfall and snowfall at many places. Isolated heavy snowfall is predicted for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh.
Intensifying Cold Wave
Cold wave conditions are expected to strengthen. Minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4°C over many parts of Northwest India during the next 3-4 days. For the rest of the country, no significant temperature change is expected for the next five days.
Rain in Southern States
Separately, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
