Singer Anuv Jain wraps up India tour with a power-packed night in Bengaluru

Singer Anuv Jain, standing before a sea of fans in Bengaluru, a city he considers one of his most significant, seemed to lean into the magic of the moment — where the focus wasn’t just on the spectacle of a packed venue, but on the connection formed in the spaces between notes.

For Anuv, this tour has been a journey of creating memories that outlast the final encore. “We’re not doing this for just one peak. We’re doing this so that we can leave something with people for a very, very long time.” Excerpts from the conversation:

This tour marks a significant shift in Anuv’s live performances. “This is the first time I’ve had a band, and the response has been incredible,” he says. There was also a conscious effort to elevate the production — without losing what defines his shows.

“My sets have always been very intimate, so we didn’t want to lose that feeling. We’ve managed to find that balance,” he explains. “These are some of the biggest shows I’ve done, but the closeness with the audience has increased even more,” he adds.

Though his songs begin as deeply personal reflections, their true impact often reveals itself only after release. “When I’m writing, I don’t usually think about the impact the songs might have.

I just want to write something that means a lot to me,” he says. “But when people tell me they’ve found comfort or release in these songs, it feels amazing,” he says.

As an independent musician, Anuv recognises the tendency to label and categorise artistes — something he resists. “It’s the world’s job to typecast you and box you into what they think you are. People have their own interpretations of who I am as an artiste. But I just want to make music that I like. It can be any genre — I don’t let any of these things define me,” he says.

For Anuv, authenticity remains the core. “Every line is different, and the song has a beginning, middle and end — like a story or a short film. There’s a
