The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday rescued five people, including four minors, from the 22306 Jasidih – SMVT Bengaluru Express. The rescue operation was carried out following a tip-off received by Ashray, an NGO based in Madhupur.
Deepa Kumari, of Ashray said upon receiving the alert, they informed Madhupur RPF team at once. “These children were being taken to a company in Bengaluru for daily-wage work,” she said. The four minors are aged between 14-15 years and are residents of Dumka and Godda districts. The fifth, according to his Aadhaar details, crossed 18 years of age. They had boarded the train on Thursday evening.
Vimlendu Biswas, a member of Jamtara district child welfare committee, said the rescued children were handed over to them.
