The Indian Postal Department is set to announce the India Post GDS Result 2026 for 28,636 vacancies across the country. The state-wise merit lists are expected to be uploaded on the official portal, allowing applicants to check their selection status online.
The India Post Recruitment Drive is for the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak, Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster, etc. Candidates who submitted their applications during the notification period are waiting for the announcement of the first merit list, which will be available in PDF format at indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
The online application process for the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) was held from 31st January 2026 to 16th February 2026. Although the department has not confirmed an exact release date, past recruitment cycles indicate that the merit list may be issued from March onwards.
Selection will be determined solely on the basis of marks obtained in Class 10. There will be no written examination or interview. The merit list will be prepared circle-wise and category-wise. If the vacancies persist, further lists may also be released.
Once the list is released, the candidates can download the PDF file for their respective state/circles and search for their roll number.

Step 2: Click on the “Results” section available on the homepage.
Step 3: Select the relevant state or postal circle.
Step 4: Open the displayed merit list PDF.
Step 5: Download and retain a printed copy for future reference.

The recruitment process is carried out through Advertisement No. 03/2025-26. The total number of vacancies advertised is 28,636.
The candidates who have passed Class 10 in Mathematics and English and have knowledge of the local language are eligible. The age limit for the candidates is between 18 and 40 years as of January 1, 2026. The selection process comprises the preparation of a merit list on the basis of Class 10 marks and the verification of documents.
First, the shortlisted candidates will be notified for document verification within a maximum of 15 days after the selection. They are required to bring the original documents as well as two sets of self, attested photocopies. Required documents include mark sheet, identity proof, caste certificate, PwBD certificate, EWS certificate, transgender certificate and proof of date of birth.
