Dubai Indian schools to end term online. New session starts April 6

Dubai’s education regulator, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), has announced that Indian curriculum schools and other institutions in the emirate whose academic year begins in April will complete the remainder of the current term through distance learning.

The clarification came in a circular issued to schools after the UAE Ministry of Education decided to bring forward the spring break by one week as part of ongoing precautionary measures.

According to the notice, the move has been approved by the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council (EHCD). As a result, schools following the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE), and other April-start academic calendars will finish the ongoing term through online learning.

KHDA also said schools have flexibility in conducting assessments.

Institutions may choose to hold year-end exams for non-board classes online or finalise results using cumulative assessment scores collected during the academic year.

Meanwhile, the authorities confirmed that the new academic session will begin on Monday, April 6, 2026.

Schools facing operational or academic challenges have been advised to reach out to KHDA for assistance. The regulator also urged parents and the wider school community to rely only on official government sources for updates and avoid sharing unverified information.
