Varinder Singh Ghuman death: World’s first vegetarian bodybuilder turned actor, Varinder Singh Ghuman, passed away in Punjab after suffering a heart attack. Deeply shaken by the news, his nephew, Amanjot Singh, confirmed the reason for his death last evening.
According to a PTI report, Ghuman’s manager, Yadvinder Singh revealed that the professional bodybuilder experienced acute shoulder pain and visited the hospital to get it checked. Pargat Singh, Padma Shri awardee and Congress MLA took to X
(formerly Twitter) and condoled the loss of the famed bodybuilder.
Who was Varinder Singh Ghuman?
Varinder Singh Ghuman has starred in several Bollywood films, even alongside Salman Khan. He shot to fame for his role in Tiger 3, but he is popularly known for his roles in Roar: Tigers of Sundarbans, Marjaavan, and Kabaddi Once Again.
Ghuman has also held the title of runner-up Mr Asia in 2009. With a significant presence on Instagram, Ghuman has over one million followers on social media. As per the PTI report, he had even expressed his desire to contest for the next elections in Punjab in 2027.
Tributes pour in
Many politicians of the state expressed their condolences on social media. Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu wrote on X, “Passing away of the pride of Punjab, ‘the He-Man of India’, Varinder Ghuman ji, is an irreparable loss for the country. He set new standards in the world of fitness with his hard work and vegetarian lifestyle. His life will always be a source of inspiration for the youth.”
Congress MP and former deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa wrote, “It is heartbreaking to hear the news of the sudden demise of Punjab’s famous bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman. He brought glory to Punjab with his hard work, discipline, and talent. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this loss.”
As per local media, his prayer meet is scheduled for 3 PM today, October 10, in Punjab. Chairman of INC Punjab, Gartej Singh Pannu, condoled the loss and wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Punjabi actor and bodybuilder Varinder Ghuman Ji due to a heart attack. May Waheguru Ji bless his soul with eternal peace and give strength to his family in this difficult time.”
