Taylor Swift has never hidden her love for music or her friendships, and recently she gave fans a sweet peek into her long-time bond with Ed Sheeran.
While promoting her latest album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ on ‘The Hits Radio Breakfast Show’, Swift shared details about catching up with Sheeran during Selena Gomez’s wedding to music producer Benny Blanco.
The wedding, which took place on September 27 in Santa Barbara, California, was a star-studded and emotional affair. But for Taylor Swift, one of the highlights was reconnecting with her close friend and collaborator, Ed Sheeran.
“I saw Sheeran last weekend, actually, at a wedding of one of our best friends,” Swift said, referring to Gomez.
The two musicians, who have worked together for years, used the occasion to remember some of their favorite moments on stage. Swift recalled the time Sheeran joined her during the London stop of her ‘Eras Tour’ in 2024. Together they performed their popular track ‘End Game’, sending the Wembley crowd into a frenzy.
“We were just talking about how much we love when he came out onstage with me at Wembley,” she said, adding that performing with Sheeran always feels natural.
Swift explained that their friendship is built not just on personal trust but also on a deep musical connection. “There’s really like a sort of strange mind-meld thing that happens between us two, and we’ve always had it. We always will,” she said.
According to her, the two often find themselves discussing music whenever they meet, whether it’s rehearsals, writing, or brainstorming new ideas.
Their shared passion for performing also means they rarely say no to opportunities to sing together. During the radio chat, host Fleur East asked Swift whether Sheeran would perform at her own wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce, since he is known to be asked often to sing at weddings.
Swift laughed and admitted, “Oh, it would be hard to keep him from it, I think. That’s the thing, he’s like, ‘I’m always being asked to sing at weddings.’ It’s like, ‘Ed, if there is a stage, you know you’ll be on it.’”
She added that this playful energy is what makes their bond so strong. “That’s the fun thing about our friendship. We both love performing, and we love writing and singing. It’s what we do, and honestly, it’s not that hard to talk either of us into performing at anything.”
Swift also reflected on Sheeran’s own big day when he married Cherry Seaborn back in 2018. “He had a great wedding… like eight years ago, forest wedding, like a woods wedding,” she remembered warmly. Today, Sheeran and Seaborn are parents to two daughters.
Reports from Gomez’s wedding also revealed that Swift and Sheeran both gave heartfelt speeches during the reception.
