Girija Oak Godbole Condemns AI Morphed Pics, Fears for Son

Marathi Actor Girija Oak Godbole Speaks Out Against AI-Morphed Images

Marathi actor Girija Oak Godbole has publicly addressed the circulation of AI-morphed and sexualized images of her online, expressing deep concern about their long-term impact, especially on her 12-year-old son.

Key Takeaways

  • Girija Oak Godbole responded to viral AI-morphed images of her on social media.
  • She highlighted the objectification and discomfort caused by such content.
  • The actor voiced specific concern about her son eventually encountering these permanent online images.
  • She appealed directly to both creators and consumers of such morphed content to reconsider their actions.

Viral Attention and Unwanted Content

After going viral for her blue saree look, Girija Oak Godbole received significant online attention. While acknowledging the creative and funny memes, she specifically called out the AI-morphed images that sexualize and objectify her, stating they make her uncomfortable.

“Many of my friends, relatives, and acquaintances have been sending me posts and memes. Some of them are ridiculously funny and very creative, but some are AI-morphed images of me that are not in good taste. They sexualize and objectify me, and it makes me uncomfortable,” she said.

The Scary Reality of a Rule-Free Digital Space

Speaking as an active social media user, Girija understands viral trends but is troubled by the lack of boundaries. She noted that as long as engagement continues, so does the cycle of creating and sharing such content.

“But what bothers me is that this game has no rules — nothing seems to be off limits.”

A Mother’s Fear for Her Son

Her primary worry revolves around her 12-year-old son, who does not currently use social media but will in the future. She fears he will one day discover these obscene, AI-generated images of his mother, which will remain on the internet permanently.

“He’ll know they’re not real… but they still give people a cheap thrill, a kind of titillation. That is scary. I know I can’t do much to stop it, but doing nothing doesn’t feel right either.”

An Appeal for Responsibility

Girija concluded her message with a direct request. She asked those who create inappropriate AI-morphed images to think twice and reminded those who consume such content that they are also part of the problem.

“So here I am, requesting this: if you are someone who uses AI to morph images of women, men, or anyone into something inappropriate, please think twice. If you don’t create this content but enjoy consuming it, you are also part of the problem.”

Despite the negative aspects, she expressed gratitude for the positive attention and hopes it leads more people to watch her work in films, series, and plays like the upcoming .
