Dulquer Salmaan’s production Lokah, which was released in theatres this Onam, has created box office history. Despite clashing with Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam and Fahadh Faasil’s Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, the film enjoyed a phenomenal theatrical run, breaking records along the way. Now, over a month after its release, it has officially become the highest-grossing film in Kerala.
Lokah beats box office records
In just 39 days, Lokah, headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, earned Rs 118.94 crore at the Kerala box office alone. Before Lokah, the record was held by Mohanlal’s Thudarum, which was released in April 2025 and collected Rs 118 crore in the state. Earlier, Manjummel Boys held the record for the highest-grossing Malayalam film in India, while Empuraan held the top spot globally. Now, Lokah, directed by Dominic Arun, has surpassed all three.
Lokah is also on track to become the first Malayalam film to enter the Rs 300 crore club in worldwide gross.
Dulquer Salmaan on Lokah’s OTT Release
Amid rumours about Lokah’s OTT premiere, Dulquer Salmaan took to social media to clear the air. A few weeks ago, the actor-producer posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Lokah isn’t coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements! Lokah #WhatsTheHurry.”
About Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra
Written and directed by Dominic Arun, the film features cinematography by Nimish Ravi and editing by Chaman Chacko. Music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, while the action sequences are choreographed by international action director Yannick Ben. The additional screenplay and dramaturgy are by Santhy Balachandran, with art direction by Jithu Sebastian.
About Lokah- Chapter 2
Following the thundering success of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, the makers announced the expansion of the Lokah universe. The makers recently dropped the first poster and a special glimpse of the much-awaited sequel Lokah Chapter 2. The makers shared an announcement video on YouTube, bringing back Tovino Thomas as Michael, the folkloric Chaathan.
Titled ‘When Legends Chill: Michael and Charlie’, the clip has Michael in conversation with Charlie, played by Dulquer Salmaan, teasing the arrival of a new threat. At one point, Michael cryptically says that “his brother was released” and seeks help, which seems to be a clear hint at the sequel’s darker turn. The film will once again be directed by writer-director Dominic Arun, who will continue the vision for the growing superhero saga.
