Did you know Bridgerton’s Luke Thompson has Indian roots? Actor reacts

Actor Luke Thompson, who portrays Benedict Bridgerton in the popular Netflix series Bridgerton, has shared insights about his heritage and ambitions in a recent interview. With the upcoming release of Season 4, Thompson disclosed details about his familial ties to India, noting that his grandmother was an Indian English. He even expressed his curiosity about his roots and hopes to visit the country soon.

In an interview with The Times of India, Thompson said, “I’m very curious. It’s funny how genetics works. Because, as I say, it’s not a culturally big part of me, but then it sort of is, I guess, genetically. So yeah, I’d love to come and explore India and see what it’s like.”

In the same interview, Thompson also spoke about how Bridgerton, beyond its grand romances and lavish backdrops, delves into profound emotional realities beneath its glossy exterior.

“Yes, I guess it just digs down. What I love about the show is that, for something that starts off with the premise of a romance novel, which is often seen as a bit simplistic, it actually really delves into the complications of falling in love and of love generally. And I think that’s really cool that it does that,” he said.

Season 4 finally places Benedict Bridgerton at the heart of the narrative. After seasons of sidestepping societal expectations and drifting through complex relationships, he now steps fully into his own romantic journey. Across from him is Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha, the enigmatic Lady in Silver who first catches his eye at his mother’s masquerade ball.

The new season rolled out in two parts, with Part 1 premiering on January 29, 2026, followed by Part 2 on February 26, 2026. In total, the season has eight episodes.
