From classic family dramas to mythological action films, these five movies are full-on entertainers and perfect for all ages.

Kantara: A Legend Chapter- 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara, released on October 2 and continues to win hearts in theatres and roar at the box office. Rishab Shetty not only directed the film but stars in the lead role of Berme, a warrior. Set during Kadamba dynasty in Karnataka, Kantara Chapter 1 explores the region’s rich cultural heritage. Alongside Rishab, the Kannada period mythological action drama also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles.

Jolly LLB 3

Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi return in their lawyer avatars in Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB 3. The third installment of the courtroom drama franchise brings back the beloved ‘Jolly’ duo, but this time, the story tackles serious and emotional issues such as farmers’ suicides and the illegal acquisition of their lands.

Released on September 19, the film has been receiving praise in theatres. It also stars Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao, with new additions Gajraj Rao and Seema Biswas. While the festive season is usually about celebration, this film encourages audiences to pause and reflect on important social issues.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gam

Written and directed by Karan Johar, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is an all-time hit classic family entertainer that you can watch a thousand times. The film brings together some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles. It explores themes of family values, love, emotions, grandeur and celebration, making it a perfect choice for Diwali night. K3G is available on Netflix and Prime Video.

Om Shanti Om

Another superhit of Shah Rukh Khan, Om Shanti Om always holds a special place in a movie-goer’s heart. Directed by Farah Khan, the romantic fantasy film also stars Deepika Padukone opposite SRK. It’s a perfect family watch, filled with romance, drama, reincarnation and soulful music. This is available to watch on Netflix.

Kapoor & Sons

Directed by Shakun Batra, Kapoor & Sons beautifully blends family drama with a touch of comedy. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film features an ensemble cast including Rishi Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajat Kapoor. This full-on family entertainer is available on Netflix and Prime Video.
