21 Years Of Lakshya

Farhan Akhtar’s coming-of-age war drama Lakshya turned 21 this year. He posted a montage video that beautifully features glimpses from the iconic scenes of the movie Lakshya to mark its 21st birthday. The director even added the movie’s patriotic feelings-awakening song Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe, crooned by Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Roop Kumar Rathod, Kunal Ganjawala and Vijay Prakash. He captioned it with a meaningful note that read, “Celebrating 21 years of a story about finding purpose, one step at a time. #21YearsOfLakshya.”

Hrithik Roshan played the pivotal role of Karan Shergill in Lakshya, an irresponsible young man who has no plans for his future, opposite Preity Zinta as Romila Dutta, who is an aspiring journalist. Romi then inspires Karan to find a purpose in life, and he joins the Indian Army after going through the Combined Defence Services Examination, despite his parents’ disapproval.

The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan as Colonel Sunil Damle, Sharad Kapoor as Major Binod Sengupta, Boman Irani as Mr. Shergill, Om Puri as Subedar Major Pritam Singh, Rajendranath Zutshi as Major Kaushal Verma, Sushant Singh as Captain Jalal Akbar and Parmeet Sethi as Major Shahbaaz Humdani, among others.

Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film

Farhan Akhtar is currently working on his next movie, 120 Bahadur. Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai, the film is based on the real-life Battle of Rezang La, one of the most heroic yet lesser-known chapters in Indian military history, and is ready to depict the story of their courage and sacrifice. While fans are eagerly waiting for the movie, Ghai has now revealed that all the actors in his directorial, who will play soldiers, are undergoing an intense training. “The actors portraying the soldiers of Charlie Company in 120 Bahadur are absolutely fantastic. Most of them are first-timers, they’ve never done a film before. I made them go through a very gruelling process,” he said recently.

Set against the harsh winter landscape of Eastern Ladakh during the 1962 Indo–China conflict, 120 Bahadur tells the tale of 120 soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment who fought against nearly 3,000 Chinese troops.

Backed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, along with Amit Chandrra of Trigger Happy Studios, 120 Bahadur stars Farhan Akhtar in the lead role. The film is slated to release on November 21, 2025.
