How the Tragedy Unfolded
The empty dumper was heading toward a petrol pump from Road Number 14 when it suddenly swerved out of control at over 100 km/h. Eyewitnesses described the vehicle smashing into cars, motorcycles, and pedestrians along Sikar Road.
“The dumper kept crushing vehicles and people in its path. Ambulances were called immediately to rush the injured to hospitals,” said a police officer at the scene.
Scene of Devastation
The impact was catastrophic, with several victims mutilated beyond recognition and severed limbs found at the site. Mangled vehicles lay piled across the road as bloodstains marked the 300-metre stretch of destruction.
Rescue and Response
Rescue operations continued for hours with cranes and ambulances deployed to clear wreckage. The seriously injured were shifted to SMS Hospital Trauma Centre, where emergency protocols were activated.
Local residents protested at the site, demanding safety measures like an underpass or barrier to prevent future tragedies. Police eventually pacified the crowd.
CCTV footage captured the dumper barrelling down the road uncontrollably. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation, with more details awaited as the probe continues.
