In a horrific crime that has shaken Bengaluru, a woman from West Bengal was gang-raped by five men who forced their way into her home while claiming to be police informers. The incident occurred Tuesday night in the Madanayakanahalli police station limits on the city’s outskirts.
Police Response and Arrests
Bengaluru Rural SP C.K. Baba confirmed that three accused have been arrested while manhunts continue for the remaining two suspects. “The incident occurred on Tuesday night. A gang of five men barged into the victim’s residence, tied up and assaulted two men, and then committed gang rape,” stated SP Baba.
He added that after the crime came to light, police immediately rushed to the spot and conducted inspections. A formal case of gang rape and robbery has been registered.
Sequence of the Attack
According to police investigations, the five-member gang forcibly entered the rented house of the West Bengal family on Tuesday night. Posing as informers from Peenya police station, they claimed to be conducting a raid based on false allegations that the family was involved in selling ganja and prostitution.
The assailants first assaulted the victim’s son and attacked her female friend. They then dragged the woman into another room and gang-raped her. During this terrifying ordeal, the victim’s son managed to alert police, but the accused had fled by the time officers arrived.
Ongoing Investigation
The case is being treated with utmost seriousness, with the Deputy SP of Nelamangala Division personally supervising the probe. Three special police teams have been formed to track down the remaining suspects.
The two male assault victims are currently receiving treatment at NIMHANS hospital. Police were able to identify and arrest three suspects based on the victim’s detailed statement. Further investigation is actively underway.
