Reliance and Meta Launch Major AI Joint Venture
Reliance Industries Limited has partnered with Meta’s Facebook to establish a new artificial intelligence joint venture, marking a significant collaboration between two global giants in the enterprise technology space.
Key Details of the Partnership
- Joint Venture: Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL)
- Ownership: Reliance Intelligence (70%), Facebook Overseas (30%)
- Initial Investment: Approximately ₹855 crore
- Focus Area: Enterprise AI services development and distribution
The partnership was formalized through an amended joint venture agreement, with REIL officially incorporated on October 24, 2025, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Intelligence.
Financial Structure and Approvals
Reliance Intelligence has subscribed to 20,00,000 equity shares worth ₹2 crore as initial capital. The company clarified that this transaction does not qualify as a related party transaction, and no governmental or regulatory approvals were required for the incorporation.
“Reliance Intelligence will invest an amount of ₹2 crore towards initial subscription of 20,00,000 equity shares of ₹10 each,” the company stated.
Strategic Significance
This collaboration represents a strategic move by both companies to strengthen their enterprise technology capabilities and explore AI-based solutions for businesses. The timing coincides with Reliance’s strong quarterly performance, highlighting the company’s continued growth trajectory.
Reliance’s Q2 FY26 Financial Performance
Reliance Industries reported impressive second-quarter results, with:
- 14.3% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to ₹22,092 crore
- 10% revenue growth to ₹2,83,548 crore
- 14.6% EBITDA growth to ₹50,367 crore
The strong performance was driven by robust showings across Oil-to-Chemicals, digital services, and retail businesses.
“Reliance delivered a robust performance during 2QFY26 led by strong contribution from O2C, Jio and retail businesses,” said Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director.
