Reliance and Meta Form AI Joint Venture with Rs 855 Crore Investment

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Meta Platforms have announced a major joint venture to develop enterprise AI services through a new entity called Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL). The partnership represents a significant move into artificial intelligence by two of the world’s largest conglomerates.

Key Partnership Details

According to the joint venture agreement signed on Saturday:

  • Reliance Intelligence will hold 70% stake in the new company
  • Facebook Overseas (Meta) will own the remaining 30%
  • Initial investment commitment of approximately Rs 855 crore
  • REIL will focus on “developing, marketing and distributing enterprise AI services”

Company Formation and Structure

Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited was officially incorporated in India on October 24, 2025, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Intelligence. The company will serve as the joint venture vehicle for the partnership with Meta.

Reliance Intelligence has subscribed to 20,00,000 equity shares amounting to Rs 2 crore towards the initial capital. “Reliance Intelligence will invest an amount of Rs 2 crore towards initial subscription of 20,00,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each,” the company release stated.

Regulatory Clearance

RIL clarified that the transaction does not qualify as a related party transaction, and none of the company’s promoters or group companies have any interest in the deal. The incorporation required no governmental or regulatory approvals.

“The transaction does not fall within related party transaction and none of the Company’s promoter/ promoter group/ group companies have any interest in the above transaction,” the official statement confirmed.

Strategic Implications

This partnership enables both companies to strengthen their enterprise technology capabilities and explore AI-based solutions for businesses. The collaboration signals the growing importance of artificial intelligence in enterprise solutions and represents a strategic positioning move by both firms in this emerging field.

The intimation regarding REIL’s incorporation was received from Reliance Intelligence on October 24, 2025, following earlier disclosures made in August and September 2025.
