IRB Infrastructure Wins Major Rs 9,270 Crore NHAI Highway Project
IRB Infrastructure Trust has secured a massive toll-operate-transfer (TOT) project from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Uttar Pradesh worth Rs 9,270 crore. This award significantly strengthens IRB’s position as India’s leading private highway developer.
Project Details and Scope
The project, part of NHAI’s asset monetisation programme, involves a 366-km bundle covering the Lucknow-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur corridor (NH-27) and a section of the Lucknow-Varanasi corridor (NH-731). IRB Infrastructure Trust received the Letter of Award for a 20-year, revenue-linked concession period.
“The TOT 17 project is a pivotal accomplishment for us given the importance of this religious tourism corridor. With this award, the IRB platform now commands riveting 42 per cent market share in the TOT space,” said Virendra D Mhaiskar, Chairman & Managing Director of IRB Infrastructure Developers.
Strategic Significance
IRB Infrastructure Trust is the private InvIT sponsored by IRB Infrastructure Developers. As India’s largest integrated private toll roads developer, the IRB platform now manages an asset base exceeding Rs 80,000 crore across 12 states through its parent company and two InvITs.
This project represents a major infrastructure development for Uttar Pradesh’s religious tourism circuit while demonstrating continued private sector participation in national highway development.
